Medhat Elmesky, President, Design Arts Studio

 

Mr. Elmesky holds a Master of Science in Urban Design from the Pratt Institute, New York City (1975) and a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the University of Alexandria, Egypt (1968). In 1990, he founded the Design Arts Studio, to provide quality service in the field of Urban Design and Planning. The firm’s goal is to represent quality, integrity, professionalism and, above all, excellence in the work we produce. Design Arts Studio is an urban design firm that deals with various aspects of the design of cities. The firm is committed to a better environment through creative efforts and strives to be an example to others in our industry and community by designing appropriate environments of value that surpass our client’s expectations. President of his own consulting firm, with forty plus years of diverse experience in the US and abroad, Mr. Elmesky has worked on planning and designing various community and city projects. His areas of expertise include master planning, specific plan studies, parks & recreation, downtown revitalization, streetscape design, and landscape planning. His certificate in Crime Prevention through Environmental Design, awarded by the state of Florida, provides his firm with the expertise to plan safe projects for various communities and municipalities.

Kristen A. Shell, AICP, Principal, Andersen Shell Consulting, LLC

Ms. Shell has over 15 years of experience in the field of urban planning. She holds dual masters degrees in Urban Planning and Civil Engineering. Past experience includes managing special projects for the City of Tallahassee including largescale Developments of Regional Impact, two Sector Plans, an Aquifer Vulnerability Model, and a Corridor Study. Ms. Shell also served as the Santa Rosa County Planning Director and she began her career as a planner working for Bay County.

 

Azka Mahmood, Planner, Design Arts Studio

Azka Mahmood has dual Masters degrees in Urban Planning and Sociology. Her areas of expertise include communities in the built environment, urban and community design, and identity and immigration studies. She has over five years of experience in conducting ethnographic field research, interview and focus group-based data collection. Her past experience includes teaching and research assistant-ships at the University of South Florida, and research and analysis of various World Bank and International Monetary Fund development projects in Pakistan.
